Can I travel with cloth diapers?

You can absolutely travel with cloth diapers. You may want to take some extra doublers for long car rides or airplane trips. Be sure you have a good wet bag. If you are gone for more than a couple of days either ask to use a washing machine where you are staying or go to a laundromat. top

Do all in one diapers leak?

All diapers will leak if not used properly. All in one diapers hold about 8-12 ounces of liquid. If your baby has a really big bladder and empties all at once, you may want to add doublers. As long as you use and care for My Little Hipster diapers correctly they will not leak. Be sure not to go too long between changings, adjust the diapers to fit your child properly, and avoid using excessive amounts of detergent. top

What is a doubler?

A doubler is made of cotton/bamboo and can be added to the inside of the diaper (next to baby’s bum) for added absorbency. Doublers are good for heavy wetters, naps, and long car rides. top

How often should I change my baby's diaper?

We recommend changing intervals of about 90 minutes to 2 hours until your baby develops more bladder control or is eating more solid foods (usually around 1 year old). This again depends on the amount your baby urinates; I have 2 kids that must have the largest bladders ever! top

Do My Little Hipster diapers need special care?

Not really. Just turn them inside out, pre-wash in cold, wash in hot, extra rinse. When your baby poops, it is a good idea to put it in the toilet. We recommend using 1/2 the usual amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softeners, bleach or special detergents. We also recommend you not use diaper creams, ointments, or balms. If the diapers ever develop a faint smell you can add a little baking soda to the wash and a little vinegar to the rinse cycle to balance out the ph level. You may want to invest in a diaper sprayer. This hooks up to the toilet allowing you to cleanse off the excess poop without swishing the diaper around in the toilet (as our mothers may have done). Diaper sprayers are not necessary but may be helpful as your baby eats more solid foods. top

Why shouldn't I use diaper cream?

Creams, ointments and laundry additives inhibit the absorbency of cloth diapers. The lining naturally wicks moisture away from the skin to the absorbent core keeping little tushies drier. Creams, ointments and fabric softeners leave a residue in the cloth which repels liquid. This prevents the important wicking action. If the liner cannot wick moisture properly, the absorbent core of the diaper cannot perform its full duty, and the diapers will not hold as much liquid as they should. They will also not keep the moisture away from your baby's skin. top

If I can't use cream what can I use for diaper rash?

In some instances your baby may still get some diaper rash. Just use powder. A corn starch base is a great choice. top

Do cloth diapers really cost less than disposables?

Yes. Even when you factor in the cost of power and water to launder cloth diapers they still save you money over using disposables. top

How can My Little Hipster diapers save me even more than other cloth diapers?

If you are going to diaper in cloth full time the general recommendation is to have at least 18 diapers. The minimum would be 12 if you can wash them daily, 24 would give you even more flexibility. Many one-size diapers adjust, but are too big for babies under 8 pounds and too small for those over 30. My Little Hipster diapers are available in three adjustable sizes allowing greater coverage with fewer diapers. The S/M diapers will fit even a preemie baby up to about 25 pounds. The M/L size will fit most newborns, unless they are really small (under 8 pounds), up to about 30 pounds. The L+ size will fit from about 20 pounds through potty training, even if you have a chunky little one. As you can see you will not need to buy all different sizes of our diapers to get you through to potty training as you would with other styles. top

Do your products meet the current CPSIA standards?
